NOW hiring Honey Sales and Production Position March 2023

Our Mission: We are artisan beekeepers producing and selling exceptional quality raw varietal honey and honey products in Jacksonville NY. We are hiring for a retail and production position which includes Ithaca Farmers Market sales on Saturday and Sunday and Thursdays at the Honeybee Embassy, working primarily in the Embassy kitchen and store. Starting wage is $17/hr. up to 24 hours per week. Previous sales experience at farmers markets or other retail environments, restaurant kitchen experience, and previous farm work are preferred but not required. Eligible candidates should be available the first week of May through the end of the year, have strong communication skills and a positive, self-starting attitude. The Honeybee Embassy is a positive and creative work environment in a beautiful, inspiring location.
Possible Schedule:
Thursdays at The Honeybee Embassy 10-6pm (occasional longer days for events)
Saturday at the Ithaca Farmers Market- pick up van at farm in Jacksonville at 7:45 am, market sales 9-3, and finish up restock at farm by 4:30pm
Sunday at the Ithaca Farmers Market- pick up van at farm in Jacksonville at 8:45 am, market sales 10-3, and finish up at farm by 3:45pm
Note: Candidates are not required to work both weekend days but availability for both days is a plus.
Essential eligibility requirements:
Qualified candidates must be able to work at least one weekend day a week at either the Honeybee Embassy or the Ithaca Farmers Market. A suitable candidate will be an out-going, self-motivated individual with strong customer- service, sales, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be an advocate of the local food movement and beekeeping.
Candidates must also:
*be willing and able to learn about raw honey and honey varietals and explain these concepts to customers with enthusiasm
*possess a clean and current driver’s license
*have reliable transportation to work and be committed to punctuality and reliability!
*be able to lift up to 50 lbs
*have no known allergy to bee venom
*be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Tasks may include some or all of the following:
*setting up and conducting honey sales at the Saturday and Sunday Ithaca Farmer’s Market
*packing up honey and display materials, tables, etc. at end of market
*preparing and serving honey sodas to order at both farmers market and HB Embassy
*maintaining honey inventory for market and restocking as needed
*guiding customers through informal honey tastings at both the Ithaca Farmer’s Market and the Honeybee Embassy
*assisting with sales at the Honeybee Embassy farm store
*assisting with beekeeper-led scheduled honey tastings at the Honeybee Embassy
*assisting with bottling, infusing, and labeling honey
*assisting with landscaping/ grounds keeping at farm store: mowing, hand weeding, planting, weed-whacking, etc.
*posting photos and text on social media
*cleaning and organizing the Honeybee Embassy kitchen
*assisting with making honey syrups and chocolates for Honeybee Embassy soda bar
*making and serving honey sodas
*assisting with other various Honeybee Embassy tasks, such as bagging loose-leaf teas, making
gift sets, and packing online orders.
Note: There will be opportunities for additional hours working special events at the HBE, including
live music nights, honey and cheese pairings, and other events.
